ABOUT

Louiza Vradi is a visual artist working with a diverse range of media including photography, video, new media and textile based in Athens, Greece.

She holds a BFA and MFA in visual arts, new media, sculpture, and art education from Athens School of Fine Arts. Within her photographic and video work she navigates social documentary practices, delving into themes such as personal and collective memories, human movement, gender issues, intergenerational trauma, and our relationship with the land we inhabit, whilst focusing in the healing and spiritual aspects of creation. She often looks at the effects of the sociopolitical environment on individuals and rituals incorporated in contemporary society

Moreover, she is an art educator, and she has been trained in art and photo therapy, offering support and healing to individuals with mental and psycho-social disabilities, as well as those battling addiction. She has worked in varied roles in the creative industry such as photographer, video journalist, director, writer, production manager and industrial designer. In addition to her artistic pursuits, she has been working as a stringer photojournalist for Reuters since 2020. In 2023 she completed a Hostile Environment and First Aid Training (HEFAT) by Reuters.

She is a member of Women Photograph and Greek Documentary Association. She was named one of 30 under 30 best women photographers for 2020 by Artpil and she has been awarded with the VII Academy Scholarship. Her work can be found in international media such as The Economist, The New York Times, Vogue, Le Monde, The Guardian, Monocle, Reuters, Financial Times, Penguin Books, BBC, Die Zeit, The Washington Post, M Le Magazine, Dazed, Paris Fashion Week, Siemens, etc. She has showcased her artworks in museums and galleries such as The Benaki Museum, Onassis Stegi, The Breeder gallery, among others. In 2023 she was awarded by the Greek Documentary Association for her documentary film in progress about the life of Anna Ivankova and she attended the Agora of the Thessaloniki Documentary Festival 2024. She is one of the Futures Photography talents selected by VOID for 2024.
